The docks are the first place we as the viewer meet our characters Veil and Gemini in our pilot episode. It represents the beginning of a new life. Just as the first creature who crawled out from the sea on to land, so too must our characters walk out of offscreen non-existence and into their story as we know it.
The docks also act as a point of solitude and an escape portal for our characters who prefer the sea more than modern urban living.

Much later in the story, our characters sport a flying yacht in their backyard. Built by the technological genius, Cook, for Gemini's amusement, the yacht is a plot device as well as a means of escape for our characters. It can take them away from all of their problems by sea or by air, if only for a little while.
